Let's be honest, 2020 has been a lot and it is very easy to feel extra sensitive, stressed and overwhelmed. Sunday can be a great day to reflect on how the week went, and prepare for what is coming up. Sunday Sadness is definitely something that can creep in, especially in today's world, which makes it even more important to pamper ourselves once in a while and really take a moment to balance and self-care. Here are some of our favorite ways to unwind, relax and practice some self-care "stoner" style!
Set the Mood
Whether you realize it or not, what you surround yourself with can really have an impact on how you are feeling mentally. Surroundings can impact your mood, stress levels, behavior and how you interact with others.
Set a calm tone for your session by finding an environment that calms your mind and rejuvenates you. Some of our favorite places to zen out are a quiet beach looking over the seascape and listening to the waves crash, or a peaceful hike where we get to explore and take in the beauty of the season changing.
With that said, it isn't always easy to get out, even more so now that we are practising social distancing, but you can set the mood just as easily at home. Make sure that you are somewhere uncluttered, light some candles with a calming scent and unplug while you enjoy your sesh.
This is also the perfect time to set intentions for your week, journal or meditate to ground yourself and find gratitude.
Find Ways to Laugh
The healing benefits of laughter are no joke, it has been tied to organ stimulation, stress relief, tension release, improved immune system, pain relief, and beyond. As most members of the canna-community know weed and laughter go hand in hand. Light up your preferred laughy strain (our current fave is Laughing Buddha, a Sativa that will have you giggly, uplifted and energetic for hours).
Whether it is watching a funny movie, calling a friend who cracks you up, watching funny YouTube videos, playing a funny game with your significant other or beyond, allow yourself to let go and enjoy.
Plug in to Unplug
It is very easy to get caught up in non-stop news updates and social media, but hit the pause button and find the time to step back and find some content that will help you allow your mind to learn, grow and explore in a way that won't burn your brain out.
Our favorite ways to hit the pause button and find things completely unrelated to the outside world is to listen to our top playlists on Spotify, check out a new podcast by googling topics we are interested in or listen to an audiobook for an hour or so to unwind.
We will be releasing some playlists on Spotify for different moods and activities shortly to help tap into the calm and let your mind and body take some time to breathe.
All of these things can help engage your mind while allowing it to recharge and the options are endless.
Take a Canna-Bath
Canna-products can be incorporated into your bath time in many different ways. You can bring your pipe or vape in with you as you soak. You can also use additional products to enhance your experience.
We love the Kush Queen Bath Bomb line when we are taking a soak. We are also big fans of indulging with CBD bath salts & facemasks. Check out VIce's guide to making your own cannabis-infused bath salts for a DIY option.
Why It's Important to Treat Your Self
It can be easy to associate self-care with the activities you practice, such as a spa day or a face mask, and these are definitely ways to apply self-care that we love, but there is a bigger picture.
Practising self-care is an important way to have a healthy relationship with yourself, which is vital to being able to have healthy and positive relationships with others. There can be a misconception of self-care being a selfish activity, but it is everything but. Allowing yourself to take the time to rejuvenate, find balance and reinvigorate allows you to be the best version of yourself for everyone around you.
Keep in mind that even though we have shared some of our favorite ways to self-care, practising self-care is extremely personal and it is not one size fits all. Take the time to find what makes you feel good, have self-dates and take the time to get to know and love yourself.
